Scenic Half Marathon by the sea
I absolutely recommend this run - beautiful course with a few challenging hills. There is no shade and at part very little breeze so you need to enjoy the heat.
I would have preferred an earlier start to mitigate the heath issue and although the volunteers and organization was stunning, I gave 4 stars due to running out of water when it was most needed, at the 9th Miles (they did great in correcting the issue but we got the much needed water nearly at the very end) But it was only a detail on what was a memorable day, really well organized - hence my recommendation
Great course, well marshalled but just let down by no water at final drinks station and it was so hot
The lack of water at final drink station when it was so hot was very poor. I desperately needed it and got very dizzy very soon after. Thankfully some guy biked over with one at 11 mile mark or I could have been quite ill
Apart from that it was a great race with great atmosphere though the second half of course was unexpectedly brutal especially given the heat
Hot, no shade but flat so good for first timers
Expected more of an event with music at the end. Otherwise well done. The free sports massage was awesome too
Well marshalled, well organised, great run
Super t shirt and medal, though t shirts my size had run out Doh !
Nice coastal half marathon
Great to put in a decent time in the town of my birth and starting and finishing at Whitstable castle is a great idea.
The Marshalls were very supportive all the way round and very organised and on the ball. The only tiny negative was when I finished I asked for another drink and felt like a scolded schoolboy after the lecture I received. I carried my own water so didn’t have any at the water stations so didn’t feel that I was asking for the crown jewels but this didn’t cut any mustard with the spiky school ma’am who seemed to be enjoying her water monitor duties far too much…
Got a sharp word about taking 1 bag of haribo & I pack of live hearts at the end .
One to put in the running calendar
Can't wait for the next one!
Great organisation, great atmosphere, great support, great fun!
Lovely run and a great atmosphere
We did the Saxon Shore run in May - it's a scenic half marathon but can be very hot so plan and prepare properly!
Tough in the heat
Well organised, great marshalling- thank you
Fantastic race, super positive atmosphere and so much fun
More water as run out when we got to the 9 mile station although they Marshall managed to get some to us around mile 11.5 so was very quick on there feet. Desperately needed the water as far to hot being a half marathon.
Fantastic day, well organised and efficient.
I am looking forward to running future events. The Marshals very polite and extremely friendly. Loved it
everything was spot on even the weather
well done Barry and team
A great event I would do every year
Plenty of water stations on route. A lovely event for all types of runners
Smoothly run and really helpful and friendly Marshall's
Ran out of water at mile 9 drinks station which was a tough blow in the heat. Did get water from the support van a bit later so well done ☺️
Beautiful route along the Whitstable and Herne bay coast
Superb event - hot again despite the earlier date!
The Marshalls are amazing and really supportive and encouraging but please can runners be limited to one water per station so there is some left when us slower runners get there!
The castle is a great place to start the event from. Well marshalled. Can you knock the temperature back just a little for next year
Good fun, good crowd support, see you next year
A few more mile markers may help. Drink station at the top of the reculver hill.
Otherwise great.
