Need to cancel the headwind for next year

This was a well organised event but I did find that many of the marshals were quite miserable!! They were either chatting to each other or someone else and didn’t seem interested in the runners at all. I realise that they are all volunteers but it makes such a difference to have cheerful, friendly marshals along the route.

Very well organized collecting the bibs all put in an envelope with safety pins and chip . Lots of free parking and great views I will recommend to everyone

The race ticked all the boxes for me, but there are quite a few trip hazards in places, my friend fell which caused me to stop suddenly, this was caused by a raised pavement on a bend in the shade so pretty invisible at 7.8km so hobbled for the next 1km before getting back up to pace.
But a great day was had by all.

Start time was good allows you to make a relaxed journey to race, easy parking, would like a bag drop / some portaloos, the last 1 km turn point is tough as you run past the finish before starting last 1km maybe it could be adjusted, but friendly easy to start and get going, maybe just keep waves strictly limited to run start times to allow runners to run to their potential

My first time doing the island run and really enjoyed it, I liked how they started you off in different waves to the start line, it was well organised and weather was good just on the windy side.

Fantastic event and course which was really well organised and a huge thanks to the Marshals for volunteering and guiding the runners. My only critique would be to potentially put water stations for the 10k on either side of the triangle section as some of the runners coming back were nearly colliding with other runners when getting water.

A bag or jumper drop would have been really helpful

Suggest not hosting it the day the clocks go forward next time.
Also, the loop at the end is very morale sapping- much better to have that at the beginning of the race than the end!

This year's Island Run was brought forward to March.
We were treated to a lovely sunny morning but the cold headwind on the return leg made for heavy going.
Hopefully it will go back to it's annual time of the year for 2026.

Who ordered the headwind?
